The artist is seen as an insane person in a supposedly sane world
The artist does not belong anywhere or with anyone
The artist cannot behave on emotion
Or their world will fall apart
The artist has secrets that are hidden in plain sight and are always masked by opinions of those who think they know art
The artist can’t help but to feel deeply and love hard
The artist does not sleep
The artist does not stop thinking
The artist creates
The artist gives and gives
The artist is seen as an insane person in a supposedly sane world
And art is the artist’s home
And it is the only place that the artist can find peace and acceptance
I’m currently reading about Frida Kahlo and I am also in constant conversations with artists (painters, writers, etc.) When I hear their stories, I’m always in awe at how much they have gone through. Their art helps them cope with their pain and struggles. Even Frida herself went through things that I cannot even imagine going through but she used her suffering to create masterpieces. When I wrote this, I not only had Frida in mind but I also thought about some of you. Shoutout to all of the artists out there changing the world one art piece at a time.
