Do you believe in past lives? I always say that in a past life, I was a performer, specifically a dancer. I have always had an image of me performing in a saloon like the saloons portrayed in western style movies. I am not even sure why those images come up for me. I am not even sure if past lives are real. Do you believe in past lives? If so, who were you?
What I do know is that I love dancing. Growing up, I used to watch Missy Elliott’s music videos and my dream was to become a backup dancer.
I took a dance class (jazz, tap, contemporary, ballet) in high school. I danced in our high school salsa club. I made money from my dancing skills and taught the surprise dances at Quinceañeras. I used to charge $300 – $500 a dance and split it with my friend.
In college, I auditioned for a dance team and got in. I performed at my first showcase. It was so much fun.
When I was a college student, I used to go salsa dancing every Thursday with my friends in Davis at the now closed Graduate.
When I moved to Stockton, I continued to go to Davis to dance (it was a 45-minute drive). I would drive my happy butt home at 2 am in the morning and I would go to work the next day, happy as can be. Exhausted but happy.
That was when my body could handle it.
I also used to dance at the Bella Vista Rooftop every Friday in Stockton for an entire year, until they closed because there was a shooting, and someone died. It was free and it had a family friendly vibe. Kids were there dancing with us too. The venue was for everyone, and I always had a great time. Thankfully, I wasn’t there when the shooting happened.
Then the pandemic hit, and the dancing stopped until recently, when I took The Perle Noire’s Healing Through Seduction course.
There is so much I want to say about Perle’s Healing Through Seduction classes but that is another blog post!
I am going to get back into it again. When my knee heals, that will be one of my main goals, before my body refuses to cooperate with me.
Thank you for reading and following my blog!
